About Charlotte

Executive and Career Coach. Supporting working professionals to navigate career transitions and challenges

My Background

Charlotte Connolly in a coaching session

Since qualifying as a lawyer with a UK top tier law firm in 2006, I have worked in legal and HR roles within global law, accounting, and asset management firms in London and Edinburgh. After a short career break, I re-trained to work as an Executive and Career Coach.

In my previous roles, I have provided trust based and deeply contextualised advice, support and guidance to partners, senior leadership teams and colleagues within the organisational structure working across the full People spectrum. I have been an active member of leadership teams, talent groups, recruitment and reward panels. I have led on culture, diversity and wellbeing initiatives. I have supported clients through redundancy, both as an employment lawyer acting on behalf of a client and as an HR professional supporting line managers and colleagues in-house. I have extensive line management experience.

Integrity, commitment and a positive outlook underpin my approach and general attitude throughout life.

Personal Experience

Personally, I am a mother of two school-aged boys, who understands the pressures of balancing work and home life. I have lived experience of navigating the challenges — and indeed rewards — of working full-time in a high-performing corporate environment whilst raising a young family with my husband. I also have lived experience of making significant career and industry changes.

If you had asked me 10 years ago if I ever thought I could be at risk of burning out, I would have said absolutely not. However, I have personally experienced a period of burnout, and recovered from it. I have also supported others through burnout.

The deep insight I have gained from my experiences in work and life makes me well placed to coach clients who are navigating their own career transitions and work-related challenges.

Coaching Philosophy and Style

My approach is described by clients as calm, professional, genuine and grounded. I offer honesty, clarity and consistency, and put clients at ease to open up about what is going on for them and what they want instead.

I combine deep listening with purposeful questioning to help you gain clarity, grow and move forward with confidence, often through small, manageable steps that lead to significant, lasting change.

As a trained coach and member of the International Coaching Federation, I adhere to the highest international standards of coaching.

Cultural Intelligence

Born in Brazil to Danish parents, educated in the UK and having worked across different countries and cultures, my international upbringing provides a unique cultural awareness. I pride myself on making meaningful connections with people across diverse backgrounds, cultures and values.

Pro Bono Practice

Alongside working with corporate and private clients, I have a pro bono side to my practice. I also volunteer as a career and interview coach with Smart Works supporting unemployed women back into work.

Outside of Work

When not working, I love playing tennis and padel, running and walking in the Scottish outdoors, besides spending time with my husband and two boys. After several years of being advised I am of an age where regular weights training is advisable, I have built this into my day to day, and greatly feel the benefits.

Ethics, Training and Qualifications

I am a member of the International Coaching Federation and adhere to the ICF competencies and standards.

I am a trained coach and have undertaken the Barefoot Coaching ICF level 2 accredited coach training programme.
